Here are some guidelines to follow when preparing your information for your website:

First thing:

  • Ask yourself: What will you type into Google when you want to search for the services that you provide?
  • Let’s say it is “wedding venues in Franschhoek”
  • Then make sure to use the phrase “wedding venues in Franschhoek” a few times in your text for your website.
  • It is pointless to expect your site to pop up first on Google when the Internet user types in only the word “weddings” since there are thousands of websites with the word “weddings” in it.
  • Remember that the search engine needs to see the phrase that people search on, in your text.

We call this a “KEY PHRASE”

Write about only one thing on one page (one key phrase)

  • The heading of the page must contain the key phrase.
  • The fist sentence must contain the key phrase.
  • The first paragraph must again contain the key phrase.
  • Try for 300 words on the page
  • The last sentence must again contain the key phrase.
  • Put the key words in bold every time.
  • Try to get as many as possible sites to link to your website

Bear in mind the terms that people will type and think about synonyms that can fit naturally into your content. Don’t stuff an article with keywords or make it awkward, but if you can incorporate different ways of talking about a subject in a natural way, that can help users.

Make a list of other related topics that you might want to write about.
